Monday

Greetings, whoever-reads-this!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks here in Samland. My brother left the building on the 24th of last month, after a long illness. Actually a couple of illnesses.  I'd been helping him for a couple years, all told. So sorry to see him go, but relieved that he's shed that body he'd been dragging around. A body that ached from head to toe. Heart problems, kidney problems, liver problems, and a host of what I call miscellaneous aches and pains.(I have those myself).

One thing I know about life--maybe the only thing I know--is that it continues. We do live on. Beyond that, I haven't the foggiest idea, and strangely enough am just fine with that. My Dad's passing, back in 1992, had with it a few experiences--clairaudient experiences that convinced me of the existence of something more.

So my brother still exists, just at a different- frequency, for lack of a better word. And presumably without all those aches and pains. I'm sure he's digging that.

Josh never got around to making out a Will, so there was some red tape to cut through as far as an inheritance. The only upside to this was getting to spend some time with my Nephew. He did an amazing job as caregiver during his Dad's final days, and was great to hang out with.

So tomorrow my Nephew heads back to his life in Wisconsin, and I return to my life here. Not a matter of picking up the pieces so much as just putting the pieces back where they were. I've already gotten back on the horse with practicing, and just need to get exercise figured back in. Then I'll truly be back in the saddle.

Still, there's a void that will never quite be filled. With my brother gone now, I'm the only surviving member of our family. The last man standing. My Nephew and I are the only Crains left.

Life goes on..
